Good Gifts from a Good God
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17
Sometimes circumstances cause a shortage of resources, and we wonder how we will be able to cover essentials.
But our heavenly Father has so many ways to provide for us, and it can be during those times of continuous setbacks that He surprises us with "good and perfect gifts from above," gifts that reveal His very personal love and care.
Recently, Ventura Missionary Church learned that one of our families was experiencing a series of setbacks, and because of the generosity of others in our church family, we were able to surprise mother and daughter, Maryann and Charlotte, with funds to cover some of what had been lost, and we were able to provide a Chromebook for Charlotte so that she would be better equipped for remote learning through our school.
When we gave Maryann the card that explained about the gifts, Charlotte joyfully hugged her mom. Maryann looked at us, tempted to break Covid protocol, and responded, “I want to hug you so much right now. You have no idea how much this means and how much this will help.” She thanked us repeatedly.
Circumstances can change and rock our stability, but our rock-solid, good, good Father never changes. He loves us, He sees us, and He provides for our needs - sometimes in surprising ways!
